Industrial Partnership
SMK Negeri 1 Sukabumi has been working in partnership with 146 industries and companies.the partnership includes student apprenticeship, graduate recruitment, educational aid, teacher upgrading. The partnership with JIAEC has been placing 239 graduates for apprenticeship program.

INDUSTRIAL APPRENTICESHIP
Background
The main task of vocational school is to produce middle level employees in accordance to national development and workforce demand.
Training future employees is not jus t a matter of schooling, but must be integrated with real life industry as well.
The attempt to integrate the skills gained at school with the industrial need is meant to give student clear picture and essential skill as well as working ethic in accordance to industrial demand. For this purpose, all students must experience industrial apprenticeship.
To preserve the efficacy of this program, the school provides comprehensive information about the program.
Term
- Double system education is a system that completely integrate student learning activities at school with mastering actual skill operating at work.
The aims of this system are:
A. To create high quality work force with reliable skill; having good knowledge, skill and work ethic.
B. To strengthen Link and Match program between SMK and Industry.
C. To increase the efficiency of quality educational and training process.
D. To Acknowledge and appreciate apprentice experience as a part of educational process.
- Apprenticeship is student pursuit to master skill employed in workplace.
The aims of Apprenticeship are : A. Raise student professionalism industrial demand.
B. To internalize work ethic including motivation, initiation, creativity, discipline, and diligence.
C. To know and understand all of aspect of workplace.
Time
Based on 1999 SMK curriculum, apprenticeship is conducted 6 months at the longest time and at least 3 months on the basis of industrial work day and hour.
Preparation
Before leaving, some students are conducting some activities. Among them are:
1. Surveillance by school to industries to place the students.
2. Escorting students to the industry.
3. coaching student for industrial apprenticeship.
4. Distributing manual book.
5. Inviting parents to inform all about apprenticesheip program.
Activities Conducted at Industry
When in industry, students are under the guidance of an instructor from the industry. And based on schedule, an appoint teacher will come to industry and monitor students assigned in that particular industry.
While in industry , students have duty to:
1. Conduct all industrial task assigne to the students by their supervisor.
2. Record their activities in the journal.
3. Work together with other employees in the industry.
4. Behave well and honor honesty.
5. Always take notice on safety measurement.
6. Keep in touch with teacher and supervisor.
Final Activity
When their time at industry has nearly come to an end, students must inform their teacher at scool who will pick them up.
On their arrival at schools, students must:
1. A. Submit their journal which has been completed and signed by industry.
B. Get some bridging session to resume their regular study.
2. Complete certification from the industry under a teacher guidance.
3. Submitting apprenticeship grade to the teacher.
4. Preparing a presentatiton of their apprenticeship to the chairman of the program.
Other Conditions
1. Every last week of each month, students must come back to school to consult to the the assigned teacher.
2. On the consultation session, students must bring their journal for recommendation.
INDUSTRIAL TRAINING
Description
Instructors in a double system education are teachers of SMK and tutors/supervisors/instructors from industry who prepare, guide, motivate, train, evaluate and direct students of SMK.
Job Description of SMK Teacher
1. Elaborating double system education to industries
2. Surveillance to industries to place the students.
3. Selecting students to send to the appointed industry.
4. Escorting and directing students to the industries.
5. Monitoring students, their activity and problems encountered.
6. By the end of the activity, receiving students journals which have been completed and signe by industry or company.
7. Picking students up from industries.
8. Recapitulating their students’ grade from industries.
9. Seeking the opportunity for the next placement in the same industry/company.
10. Promoting students to fill job position in the company.
Job Description of Industrial Tutor/Supervisor
1. Giving explanation to students assigned about:
a. Expected work quality, ethic and regulation.
b. Work plan and specification.
c. Types of product and service.
d. funcition of all machines and tools.
2.Giving training and guidance based on the agreed schedule.
3. Always give the students task to keep them active.
4. Warning and penalizing students for violating agreed terms and conditions.
5. Evaluating and grading students work, skill and attitude. |
